Learn to ride from the age of 8 years old

Snowboarding is available to all children from the age of 8: there's no need to be a skier to become a snowboarder.

Our esf instructors, who specialise in snowboarding, offer a learning programme that enables your child to quickly grasp the essential technical skills. Your child can then progress according to their level and at their own pace, within a friendly and welcoming group.

Frequently asked questions
where IS the meeting point?
For children registered in a snowboard group lesson, the meeting point is situated at the ESF meeting point on the snow front of Tignes Val Claret, close to the "Tufs" chairlift.
Find all our meeting points on our dedicated map, by clicking on the link below:
Will my child earn a medal?
Yes! Each child receives their ski medal at the end of the week !
The medal ceremony takes place every Friday, 15 minutes before the end of your child's lesson.
My child has never skied before, can I register him in a snowboarding lesson?
Yes! The two practices are totally different and each requires a very particular technique.
Does my child need a ski pass?
This depends on the level of the lessons in which they are enrolled:
  • For children enrolled in Pioupiou snow level, the instructor will tell you when the ski pass is required during the week.
  • From the 1st Star snow level onward, the Tignes Val d'Isère ski pass is required!
Does my child need to bring a snack?
If you can put a cereal bar in the pocket it will help if your child gets hungry.
I have booked a course at esf, do I have the guarantee that it will take place?
The organization of the course is guaranteed for a minimum number of participants depending on the type of course chosen. If the number of students is not sufficient, we will offer private lessons.
Do I need to equip my child with protections?
For children and adults, wearing an helmet is highly recommended for skiing or snowboarding!
 > We also recommend wrist protection, back protection and protective shorts for beginners in snowboarding (Not obligatory).
Are instructors qualified to teach young children?
Of course, each instructor trains for many years before they can teach skiing. One of the initial tests they must pass involves teaching skiing to young children. Our instructors are therefore fully qualified and certified to work with young children.
I cannot find the lesson and lift pass package online to book. Is this possible to book online?
This winter we invite you to buy your lift pass directly from the STGM (Society of Tignes ski lifts):
